The short version

Patesco reads your own public business information to check whether AI assistants mention you, scores it, and helps you improve it. We do not collect data about the people who visit your website. We do not sell your data. When you uninstall, we delete your data within 30 days. You can ask for a copy or early deletion at any time.

1. Who this covers

This policy covers two groups. The first is the Wix site owner who installs Patesco (our customer). Patesco is a business tool used by a site owner about their own site. It is not aimed at, and does not knowingly collect data from, the visitors of your website.

The second is anyone who runs the free scan on patesco.app without installing anything. That is a much smaller relationship and it is described in full in §2.1. In short: we keep the address you asked us to check, the email you entered, and no account.

The third is anyone who simply reads patesco.app. We count visits to the pages, cookielessly, and nothing else. §2.2 says exactly what that means.

2. What we collect

We collect only what the app needs to do its job:

  • Your site and business information: read through the Wix APIs you authorize and by reading your public, published website: business name, category, description, address, hours, phone, the products or services you list, and your public page content. This is information that is already publicly visible on your site.
  • Content the app generates about your site: the buyer questions we generate, the AI assistants’ answers to them, your scores, your competitor list, and the fixes we suggest or apply.
  • A contact email you enter in the app (optional): used only to send you the weekly progress email if you opt in, and to reach you about the service. We deliberately do not request the Wix “site owner email” permission; you tell us an email in the app instead, or none at all.
  • Basic operational data: your Wix installation identifier, plan state, and anonymized product-analytics and error events so we can keep the app working and fix problems. Analytics are keyed to your installation, not to a named person, and carry no AI-provider brand data.

What we do NOT collect:

  • No data about your website’s visitors. We do not place tracking pixels on your site, we do not read your visitors’ behavior, and we do not receive your customers’ personal data.
  • No payment card details. Wix handles all billing (see §6).
  • No special-category / sensitive personal data.

2.1 If you run a free scan on patesco.app

You can run one free scan from our website without installing anything and without creating an account. When you do, we keep:

  • The website address you asked us to check, and the public information we read from that address: its business name, its pages, and the files a site publishes for automated readers.
  • The email address you gave us, stored with the scan record and used to limit how many scans one address can start in a day.
  • A one-way hash of your network address, never the address itself. It exists only to stop one person running thousands of scans at our expense, and it cannot be turned back into the original address.
  • The result of the scan: the questions we asked, whether the AI assistants named the business, the other businesses they named instead, and the score.

What we do with it. Your result appears at a private link that only someone holding the link can open. Those pages are marked so search engines do not index them, and there is no public list of scans. We do not add you to a mailing list and we do not send marketing email to the address you entered.

How long we keep it. 90 days, then the scan and everything we read for it are deleted automatically. You can ask us to delete it sooner at any time, at the contact address in §13.

Reading a site you pointed us at. We read only pages that are already public, we identify ourselves honestly as PatescoBot, and we obey a site’s robots.txt. If a site asks automated readers to stay out, we stop and tell you so rather than working around it. We do not log in anywhere, and we do not collect personal data from the pages we read.

If your business appears in someone else’s result. A result lists the names of businesses the AI assistants mentioned, with the date we collected the answers. We deliberately do not republish what an assistant said about anyone. If you want your business name removed from a result, write to us at the address in §13 and we will remove it.

2.2 When you visit patesco.app

We count page visits and a handful of actions on this website, so we can tell whether anyone is reading it. That is the whole purpose. Here is exactly what that does and does not mean:

  • We set no cookies and store nothing on your device. No cookies, no local storage, no tracking pixels, and nothing to click away.
  • There is no profile of you. We do not recognise you between visits, we do not link your visits together, and we do not record your screen or your clicks.
  • We do not keep your network address. It is dropped before anything is stored, which also means we do not know what country you are in.
  • What we do count: the page that was opened, and a few named actions: a free scan started, a result shown or refused, an install link clicked, a waitlist form sent. The website address you type into the free scan, the email you enter, and the business name we read are never part of these counts.

None of it is used for advertising, and we do not sell or share it. If you block analytics in your browser, everything on this site still works.

3. How the app uses AI assistants

To measure your visibility, the app sends buyer questions (for example, “who are the best coffee roasters in Portland?”) to third-party AI assistant APIs and records their answers. These questions and the public business information used to build them may be processed by those third-party providers under their own terms. We send only information that is already public about your business; we never send data about your site’s visitors.

Honesty disclaimer: the scores are based on the AI assistants’ APIs. The answers those APIs give can differ from what a person sees in the consumer chat apps, because the consumer apps may use different configurations. Treat the scores as a strong, consistent signal of your AI visibility and its movement over time, not a guarantee of what every individual user will see.

4. Why we can process this (legal basis, GDPR)

  • To provide the service you asked for when you installed the app (performance of a contract).
  • Our legitimate interest in operating, securing, and improving the app.
  • Your consent for the optional weekly email, which you can withdraw at any time.

5. Who we share it with

We share the minimum necessary with service providers who process data on our behalf:

  • AI assistant API providers: receive the buyer questions and public business info described in §3.
  • Cloud hosting: the app runs on an approved cloud provider (Google Cloud / AWS) as required by the Wix App Market Partner Agreement.
  • Email delivery: sends the weekly email if you opt in.
  • Product analytics / error tracking: anonymized usage and error events from the app and from this website, in our own dedicated project. The website events are the cookieless counts described in §2.2.

We do not sell your data or share it for advertising.

6. Billing

All payments are processed by Wix, which acts as the billing processor / merchant of record. Wix sets local prices, handles tax/VAT, and processes purchases, renewals, refunds, and chargebacks. We never see or store your payment card details. See the Terms of Use for refund handling.

7. How long we keep it and how to delete it (GDPR)

  • On uninstall, we delete your data within 30 days. Uninstalling the app from your Wix site triggers deletion of your site/business data, generated content, scores, and contact email within 30 days. Anonymized, aggregated operational metrics that cannot identify you may be retained.
  • Data export: you can request a copy of the data we hold about your installation at any time by emailing us (support@patesco.app); we will provide it within 30 days.
  • Early deletion: you can request deletion before the 30-day window by emailing us.
  • We retain data only as long as needed to provide the service or as required by law.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, under GDPR or similar laws), you may have the right to access, correct, export, delete, or restrict processing of your data, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, email support@patesco.app. You also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.

9. Email

The weekly progress email is opt-in, off by default. Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can also turn it off in the app’s Settings at any time.

10. Security

We use HTTPS everywhere, restrict access to your data, and store secrets in a managed secrets vault. No system is perfectly secure, but we design to minimize what we hold in the first place.

11. Children

The app is for businesses and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

12. Changes

If we make material changes to this policy we will update the effective date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email.

13. Contact

Questions or requests: email support@patesco.app.
